Jack and Mary VanLandingham Jack passed away on Sunday, Aug 5, 2012. He was born on April 16, 1921 to the union of Ora and Rosa VanLandingham in Granada, CO. Mary passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012. She was born on June 9,1923 to the union of John and Tillie Egan in Queens, N.Y. They were married on Dec.1,1944 at The Little Church Around The Corner in New York City. They were preceded in death by Jack's parents and sisters, Mary's parents and brother and their granddaughter Heather Dreesen. They are both survived by Mary's brother, Harry (Annie) Egan; their children, Richard (Dianne) VanLandingham; Bill (Kathy) VanLandingham and Donna VanLandingham (Grady Brantley). Also survived by their grandchildren: Jeff ( Bozica) VanLandingham, Shelly (Lane) Simmons, Chris (Katie) Trujillo, Billy and Andy VanLandingham, Jacque (Mike) Anaya, Seth Myers and Brianna (Justin) Hillis. Great grandchildren: Savana Kovacs; Lindsey, Ian, Luke, Alyssa, Ayden and Jack Anaya; Sydney and Jadyen Hillis. As well as extended family and a host of friends. Jack served as Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific during World War II and he received a Jubilee of Liberty Medal for serving during the D Day invasion of Normandy. He retired from CF&I Steel after 27 years as a machinist. Mary was a founding member of the LaSalle Ladies Club; active in 4H as a leader for approximately15 years; worked in various positions at the Pueblo County Fair Open Class Division, active member of the St.Charles Mesa FCE for 38 years as well as an active member of the Pueblo Herb Society. Jack and Mary loved spending time with their great grandchildren. They were the love of each others lives and now they are together watching over all of us. They were the best parents, grandparents and friends any one could have. We will miss them dearly. Viewing at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 with funeral service at 11:30 a.m.at Grace Community Church, 1405 25th Lane with a reception to follow at the church. Graveside services and interment will be held in the Bent County-Las Animas Cemetery at 11 a.m., Wed. Aug.15, 2012 with Military Honors provided by the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
