Roy McCanne, 80, passed away March 26, 2013 from blood cancer, preceded in death by parents Lee and Priscilla McCanne and sister Susan, survived by his wife Laurie; brother Alan; children Terry (Elizabeth Zawadowski), Randy (Susan), Cindy (Ed) Herman, Lee (Debbie); grandchildren Bradley, Matthew, Benton, Bryce McCanne; step-grandchildren Jane/Jenniey (David), Paul (Jenna), and Gregory (Jeni) Zawadowski; Steve (Jamie) Faris, Michaela (Tony) Bernini, and numerous nieces, nephews, and step-great-grandchildren. Roy earned his Bachelor’s at Oberlin in Economics, Master’s in Audio-Visual Education and a Doctorate in Education at Denver University. He entered the US Air Force for a 3-year tour of duty as an academic and drill instructor in the 1950’s. After teaching for 25 years as a Professor of Education at CSU-Pueblo, Roy retired in 1994. He was a member of El Pueblo Group of the CO Mountain Club, Nature and Raptor Center, and the Mtn Park Environmental Center. He loved family events, teaching, photography, videography, travel, nature, music, and was known for his wit and humor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to El Pueblo Group of the CO Mountain Club, 1638 Saratoga Rd, Pueblo, CO 81001; Nature and Raptor Center, PO Box 8295, Pueblo, CO 81008; or Mountain Park Environmental Center, PO Box 99, Beulah, CO 81023. The family wishes to thank Drs. Alonso Pacheco, Cheryl Cavalli, and Sangre De Cristo Hospice for their care. Memorial will be held April 27, 2 pm, Seventh-day Adventist Church, 3910 O'Neal Ave. Roy's videos ended with the message, "Happiness is wanting what you have."
