E. Diana Curto died peacefully July 1st surrounded by her family.
She was born in 1941 to Essie & Everett Barnes in Monte Vista. She met Angelo Curto on July 3, 1960, and they were married the following November. Diana worked for Alamosa Public Schools for over 20 years and knew when her kids – and nieces and nephews - were getting into trouble before the trouble had a chance to begin.
Diana was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa as well as St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blende. She is survived by her best friend and husband Angelo, children Nancy Runco (Ricky), Mark Curto, Donna Martin (Cliff), Mary Ann Amari (John), and Debi Sanks, her brothers Chet Barnes (Shirley) and Sidney Barnes (Karolyn), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws (Mary Curto, Mike and Peggy Curto, Flora Shippy, Mario and Rita Curto), nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
During her lifetime, Diana was blessed with incredible friends in Alamosa, throughout the San Luis Valley, at Moon Valley, through various trips with senior citizens, and in Pueblo, where she and Angelo retired in 2009.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Joseph Catholic Church New Building Fund in Blende, or to the amazing Sangre de Cristo Hospice. The family wishes to express tremendous gratitude to Diana’s family, friends and neighbors, and also to the staffs of Rocky Mountain Cancer Center of Pueblo, St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center, Dorcy Cancer Center at St. Mary-Corwin, Sangre de Cristo Hospice, The AIM Program, and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1145 S. Aspen Road, Blende CO 81006. Rosary at 9 am Saturday, July 6, Memorial Mass at 10 am, and reception immediately following at the church.
