Lee N. Martinez passed away January 22, 2014 in Pueblo, Colorado. He was born in Cheraw, Colorado, the son of Severo and Susana Martinez and came to Pueblo from Trinidad in 1948. Lee was employed by and retired from the Pueblo Army Depot after 30 years of service. Lee was an Army Veteran serving in the South Pacific and was a life member of VFW Post #61. While working at the Pueblo Army Depot, Lee received numerous letters of appraisal. In 1967 her served with the MAC Supply Assistance Team in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for working in a combat zone in recognition of his service in Vietnam. As hobbies Lee enjoyed taking care of his lawn and flowers, genealogy and being a good Samaritan to his friends and neighbors, lending a helping hand when it was needed. In searching his family history, he learned that all of his grandparents came from Spain and that his Grandfather’s last name was Martin which was later changed to Martinez. Lee was preceded in death by his loving wife Josephine, in 1995, his father 1967, mother 1990, brothers Pat 1984, Joe 1986, sisters Mary 1988, Martha 1991, Juanita 1980 and Frances in 1995, Simmie Cardenas and beloved sister Lou Martinez. Lee is survived by his sons, Lee (Patricia) Martinez, Wesley Martinez, both of Pueblo, and Harold (Elaine) Martinez, of Colorado Springs; sister, Marjorie (Mike) Munz, of Washington; sisters-in-law, Dolores Maldonado, of Trinidad, Ramona Dominguez, of Pueblo, brothers-in-law, John Maldonado, of CO Springs; as well as 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in the Sacred Heart Cathedral, 11th and Grand. Lee’s cremated remains were laid to rest next to his wife Josephine in the Roselawn Cemetery.
