Gladys I. Mitchell

Gladys I. Mitchell passed away May 22, 2014 in Pueblo. Gladys was born here on May 17, 1920 and had lived in Pueblo her entire life. Mrs. Mitchell was employed at the Colorado State Hospital as a Clerical Supervisor in the Personnel Department for 25 years. Her hobbies included playing the organ, traveling, playing card games, especially cribbage, and playing bingo at the Showboat Hotel in Las Vegas. Gladys was a loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Claude in 1996 and a brother Jim Carlson along with several nieces and nephews. She is survived by a son Bob (Nell) Mitchell and a host of friends and care givers. Her family would especially like to thank the staff of GW-1 at the Colorado State Hospital for the care and concern of Mrs. Mitchell, whom they affectionately called “Grandma” and “Queen Gladys”. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 2 PM in the Mountain View Cemetery. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 1:30 PM in the Chapel of Hope on the grounds of the Colorado State Hospital.
