Rupert Joe Valdez passed away unexpectedly on Sept 9, 2008 at is home in Pueblo. Rupert was born Sept 21, 1928 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Fred and Carrie Aragon Valdez. He was a veteran of the US Army. Rupert retired from U.S.C. in 1985 and had enjoyed working for the last 30 years doing various security guard jobs, especially during the Colorado State Fair. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Rose G. Valdez, whom he loved with all his heart, as well as two sons, Anthony and Martin. He leaves behind his sisters Alice Duran and Teresa Romero and a brother Fred (Ofelia) Valdez. Also survived by his children Lee (Phyllis) Diamond, Joe (Elaine) Valdez, Ron Geneva) Valdez, Tony (Joyce) Valdez, Chris Valdez, Catherine (Mike) Mondragon, Debbie Valdez, Susan (J.J. Jimenez) Mondragon, Gloria Valdez, 21 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. He also leaves numerous relatives and a long list of friends. Rupert will be deeply missed by all. No viewing, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, Sept 13, 2008 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 11th and Grand in Pueblo.
