Allison R. Cortner passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 in Pueblo. She was 56. Allison was a Pueblo native, a 1975 graduate of South High School who also attended the University of Southern Colorado before going to work for Representative Ray Kogovsek. Well-known in Democratic circles, Cortner worked for Kogovsek in his Washington, DC office during his three terms and later worked as a regional representative for Senator Ken Salazar, after he was elected to the Senate in 2004. Most recently, she worked for Eagle-Net Alliance, the effort to establish broadband networks across the state. She wasl was the executive director of the Southern Colorado Economic Development District from 2007 to 2011. Cortner was executive director of La Junta Development, Inc, from 1989 to 2005. She is survived by her daughter K.C. McWhirt, of Avon, Colorado and a grandson, Aiden McWhirt. Cremation has taken place and no public services are planned.
