Marnette Wightman made her transition on November 18, 2014 after a very long illness. Marnette touched the lives and hearts of her family, friends and many others during her 87 years. Marnette was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa on February 9, 1927 and eventually made her way to Trinidad where she met her husband. They made Pueblo their permanent home in 1951. Despite contracting polio her 1st year of marriage and living with residual debilitating pain, Marnette was known for her extreme generosity and kindness, helping many people through tough times. She served many organizations calling on her quick wit, endless ability to offer support, and problem-solving skills to help others. Among her interests were Al-Anon, public schools and Democratic Politics. She was an active member of Divine Science Church of Pueblo, serving in many capacities as long as her health allowed. Marnette saw much of the world during her travels and was truly appreciative of other cultures and ways of doing things. Mrs. Wightman was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth (Shadow ) Wightman 1999, her only son Jonathan Parker Pemberton (Jon Wightman)1972 at age 25 and her mother Elsie Irene Kautzky 2006 at age 106,. Surviving her are her daughter Emily (Larry) Andersen and grandsons Jeffrey Andersen, and Kenneth and Michael Pemberton. She loved Lois Karbach like a daughter and always treated her sons Chris and James as adored grandchildren. For 14 years, she was cared for at home by her family and friends, especially Pam Stock, Stella Pacheco ,Patsy Eberwein and Eddie Eberwein who enriched her life with joy, comfort and many hours of laughter. A brief memorial service celebrating Marnette’s life led by Rev. Earleen Cornell of Divine Science Church of Pueblo will be held in the Spring.
