Janet Marian Anderson, 81, passed away in Pueblo, Colorado on January 1, 2015 after a long illness. She is survived by husband, John Howard Anderson of Pueblo; son Kent Ernst (Elaine) Anderson of Portland, Oregon; daughter Lynn Renee Anderson of Lakewood, Colorado; grandchildren Ciara O’Flynn Anderson and Ian O’Flynn Anderson of Portland, Oregon; and many cousins and close friends. Janet was born on August 15, 1933 in Larned, Kansas to Dale Raymond Ernst (1901 – 1952) and Maudie Mae (White) Ernst (1904 – 2008). She and her parents moved from Kansas City, Kansas to La Junta, Colorado in 1940. She graduated from La Junta High School in 1951. She attended both Otero Junior College and the University of Northern Colorado. She was married to John on January 27, 1962. Janet owned and operated Jan’s Antiques and worked at the Koshare Indian Museum in La Junta for many years and was an active member of St. Andrew’s church. She moved to Pueblo in 1985. Janet was a lifetime animal advocate and genealogist. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Private services will be held at a later date. Those who desire may make memorials to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or the PAWS for Life Animal Welfare.
