Elwyn Kay Becher passed away May 17, 2009 in Pueblo. Kay was born Dec 17, 1925 in Rye, CO, one of three children to Hiram and Opal Becher. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served in both WWII and Korea. Kay was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the Navy PT Cruisers, a longtime secretary of the Steel City Kiwanis Club, a member of South Pueblo Lodge #31 AF&AM, BPO Elks Lodge #90, the CSU-Pueblo Alumni Assn and Presidents Club as well as being very active in the CSU-Pueblo Athletic Department. He was a active member of the ROMEO Club, was on the board of the Salvation Army, was a avid fisherman and he loved local sports and following local athletes. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dean. His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Madge; his sons, Dennis, Gary (Robyn) and Kent (Kandis), sister Iris (Pat) Lara; his grandchildren, Breanna, Kaylee, Garrison, Robinson, TJ, Kyle and Jared: 6 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, May 22, 2009 in the Wesley United Methodist Church, 85 Stanford, with Rev. Kim James officiating. Masonic Rites provided by South Pueblo Lodge #31 AF&AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Kay’s name to the CSU-Pueblo Athletics or to the Salvation Army.
