Angelo B. Curto, of Pueblo (formerly of Alamosa, CO), surrounded by the love of his family and friends, died peacefully and joined his beloved Diana in eternal rest.
Angelo farmed alfalfa and barley alongside his brother and the family in Alamosa until his retirement before moving to Pueblo. He was a 40+ year grower for Coors and served on the Commonwealth Irrigation Company Board for over 30 years. The farm was, and still is, a proud symbol of the love of the land, conservation, and the protection of natural resources (especially the San Luis Valley water). He was also a talented wood worker and “fixer” to figure out how to solve a problem or get something to work like he wanted, whether creating jigs or guides to produce a quantity of items or fix a piece of furniture. He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #1297 in Alamosa, and member of Sacred Heart Church in Alamosa and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Blende.
Angelo was preceded in death by his wife, Diana; brother, Mike; parents, Domenic and Annunziata (Nancy); son-in-law, Ricky; and mother-in-law, Essie. He is survived by sisters Mary Curto, Flora Shippy, and brother, Mario (Rita) Curto; sister-in-law, Peggy Curto; children Nancy Runco, Mark (Debi) Curto, Donna (Cliff) Martin and Mary Ann (John) Amari. Also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Angelo was passionate about protecting the water resources of the San Luis Valley. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in his memory to the Colorado Rio Grande Restoration Foundation, 623 4th Street, Alamosa, CO 81101 to support the protection of these critical resources.
Services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1145 S. Aspen Rd, Pueblo, CO 81006. Rosary will begin at 9:20 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am.
