Doris Ramona Higbee

Doris Ramona Higbee, 97, passed away September 14, 2024 in Pueblo, Colorado. She was born May 3, 1927 in Pueblo Colorado to Dr. Earle H. Corry and Genevieve Bailey Corry. 

Ramona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry M. Higbee; brother, Earle H. Corry II; and mother-in-law, Augusta Humphreys Higbee Hartless. She is survived by her sons Russell (Leigh Ann Barna) Higbee and Corry (Nancy) Higbee; grandchildren Corry M. (Katie) Higbee, Kristin (Glen) Higbee-Walker, Genevieve Maynes-Higbee, Shyla (Joseph) Ortivez and Jacqueline (Addam) Paul; 14 great and great great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Carl (Linda) Higbee as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Ramona was a lifelong Pueblo Wildcat having graduated from Pueblo Central High School in 1945. She attended the University of Colorado where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree (RN), furthering her studies for a Master’s Degree in Nursing. Ramona was very proud to have served Pueblo and Southern Colorado communities as a Nurse at St. Mary Corwin Hospital for over 20 years, when she transitioned to Nursing Education as an instructor, helping to establish a nursing program at Pueblo Community College. She remained in that role for over 20 years. She faithfully worked to benefit the American Red Cross and Wesley United Methodist Church in many diverse capacities.

Funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Wesley United Methodist Church, 85 Stanford Ave in Pueblo with Rev Dr. Rick Calhoun and Rev Sarah Rettig presiding. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Wesley United Methodist Church or to Pueblo Cooperative Care Center through the Davis Mortuary.
