Fred Ettleman

Fred Andrew Ettleman  was born January 25, 1944 in Rolla, Missouri, a son of Fred Dempsey Ettleman and Alice May (Finn) Ettleman.   Fred passed from this life and entered God’s Kingdom Friday, February 24, 2023 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Fred served his country during the Vietnam War as a Special Forces Green Beret, retiring from the Army Colorado National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He earned a Bronze Star for Valor in Combat in Vietnam.  Fred and his wife Carolyn owned two State Farm Insurance agencies that he operated for 52 years until his death.

Fred enjoyed big game hunting and fishing.  He loved traveling internationally with his family.  He was a well-respected member of the local community, serving as a deacon of the Greenhorn Valley Baptist Church and as Commander of the VFW Post 7305.

Fred was preceded in death by his son John Ettleman.  He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn (Fry); a daughter, Kathy (Dunn), of Rye, CO; a son, Fred S. Ettleman and (Psyche) of Thoreau, NM; three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews; two brothers, Robert Ettleman of Beula, MO, and Michael Ettleman (Shirley) of Russellville, AL as well as two sisters, Lucy Bieger (David) of Lebanon, MO, and Delores Blue (Fred) of Rolla, MO.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, March 3rd, 2023, with visitation starting at 1:00 PM at Greenhorn Valley Baptist Church, 7965 Grand Vista Drive in Rye, CO.  Interment will follow in the Brookside Cemetery in Rye, CO with military honors by the Fort Carson Honors Team and the Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
