Mary Lou Villanueva passed away January 14, 2025. Born on April 19, 1944 in Pueblo, Colorado. Preceded in death by her son, Charles Christopher Villanueva; parents, Manuel and Epifania “Fannie” Gonzales; sisters, Anne Louise “Wesa” Butler and Josephine Gutierrez; brothers, Eugene Gonzales and John Gonzales; mother-in-law, Mary Buxman (Bob Deniston); father-in-law, DeWayne Buxman; brothers-in-law Mark Buxman, Dave Butler, John Thompson and Gilbert Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Betty Buxman; dearest cousin, DeWayne Durham. She is survived by her loving husband Gary Buxman; children, Edward Villanueva Jr., Ernest (Velma) Villanueva, Charlotte Villanueva, and Deborah (Dustin) Montoya; son-in-law Hurley Sammon Jr.; Grandchildren Hurley (Ali) Sammon III, Krestina (Ashton) Villanueva, and Zarrin Montoya; Great Granddaughter Ivy Villanueva Legendre; sisters, Frances Brown, Rena (Richard) Jimenez, and Julia Thompson; brothers, Manuel (Mary Ann) Gonzales and Joseph Gonzales; brothers-in-law Brian (Sharon) Buxman and Darrin (Lori) Buxman; sister-in-law Josie Gonzales; dearest cousin Sherri (John) Wickham, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Mary graduated from the University of Southern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and retired from the State of Colorado. She enjoyed time with her family, watching police tv dramas, going to Las Vegas and Cripple Creek to play the slots. She loved her vacation road trips with her husband Gary. Mary was a big sports fan, and most recently was following her favorite player Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. She was famous for her enchiladas, chicken mole, green chile, and homemade tortillas. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The Family would like to give special thanks to Leana and Brett at Sangre de Cristo Hospice for the excellent care they provided for Mary.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm. Saturday February 1, 2025, at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 2561 Vinewood Lane. 

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mary’s memory to King of Kings Lutheran Youth Scholarship Fund.
