Melvin D. Hale, 76, Pueblo West, CO passed away peacefully June 28, 2018 surrounded by family and friends after a very brief illness. Mel was born July 8, 1941 in Montrose CO to Esther and Rolla Hale of Montrose. Predeceased by brothers Nolan and Nathan Hale of Montrose, Gavin Vasile, grandson, of Dallas, TX. Mel served in the US Navy for 4 years on the Carrier USS ORISKANY. He was a repair technician at Sears Roebuck in Southgate CA and Pueblo CO and owned Melvin’s Appliance and Repair for over 30 years. Survived by his wife Norma Jean Pomeleo-Hale of 26 years; daughter, Loretta Vasile of Grandbury, TX; granddaughter, Isabella Vasile, Grandbury, TX; sisters, Eunice Vanderslice of Montrose, Rollene Fletcher, of Downey, CA; extended family, Doug and Leslie Smith, Samantha Smith, of Lakewood, CO; Peter, Joel, and Grace Pomeleo, of Pueblo, CO, Randy, Paula, Jordan, Elliott Cody, of Pueblo; special friends Jan and Sandy Stineman, of Denver; John Roalfs and Joe Howes, of Pueblo, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and his special vacation spot was enjoying the beauty and solitude of the “Shack” in the mountains. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mel was a gentle giant. He enjoyed garage sales and made amazing banana nut bread. He will truly be missed. Private family only services will be held.
