Richard Leroy Miller

Richard Leroy Miller was born June 9, 1937 in Holyoke, Colorado to Ruth Frances Homan Miller Landreth and George Henry Miller. Richard was the youngest of four children, two brothers Leland and Gerald and one sister Lena May.

Richard graduated from Haxtun High School, in Haxtun, Colorado in 1956 where he was involved in FFA and several sports including basketball and football. After high school Richard enlisted in the United States Army, he served one tour, stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Before traveling to Hawaii, he met Susan Paddock in Denver at the National Western Stock Show, they were married on November 5, 1960. Richard and Susan had three daughters Julie Ann Miller (Rodney), Claudia Marie Carmody (Edward), and Caroline Ruth Llewellyn (David).

Richard and Susan made their home in the Denver and Aurora areas, they divorced in 1995. In 2007 Richard moved to Pueblo, Colorado with his second wife Janet Brittain Miller, the two divorced in 2011.

Richard worked most of his life as an HVAC repair and service technician with the Sheet Metal Workers Local #9 in Denver. Richard was so skilled as his craft; he went to school to become a teacher for the union teaching service to the apprentices at the SMW#9 Taining Center in Denver. After moving to Pueblo, Richard continued working for the Colorado State Parks at Pueblo Reservoir and later as a maintenance and repair specialist for Re/Max of Pueblo, a job he genuinely enjoyed.

Richard was a member of the 4 Bar S Gathering Church in Pueblo. He loved worshiping there and appreciated all the friends he made. There was not a conversation with his daughters that did not include something that was going on at the church, or a Bible study.  

Richard loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing and living the life of a rancher. Richard was a cowboy in every sense. He loved a good western movie and being outdoors sitting by a lake with a fishing pole, tracking down the next elk, or sitting in a blind waiting for the next flock of geese to fly over.

Richard was a “good ole boy” and a friend to many. He never knew a stranger; you can bet he would strike up as conversation with you no matter where he was.

Richard’s legacy leaves behind his daughters Julie and Caroline, six grandchildren, Amy Nicole Ford, Erin Ruth Wallace, Suzanne Florine Carmody, Katherine Arlene Miller, Elizabeth Pamela Harutyunyan, and Edward Russell Carmody, Jr. and seven great-grandchildren, Kara Susan Marie Ford, Kaia Rae Ann Ford, Dominic Ryan Ralfs, Devon Alan Ralfs, Kinsey Florine Harutyunyan, Kristoff Grigor Harutyunyan, and McKenna Ann Northway.

Richard is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Leland and Gerald, and daughter Claudia.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the  4BarS Gathering Church, 6675 Highway 78 West in Pueblo, Colorado.
